I had the good fortune to be in Saint-Mâlo on Bastille Day. It was my first time in France on Bastille Day and my first time in Saint-Mâlo. It was spectacular! I would move to Saint-Mâlo tomorrow if I could - it is GORGEOUS! The combination of a walled, medieval city with beaches and crystal blue-green waters is sheer perfection.
I have been eager to see Saint-Mâlo ever since I read Anthony Doerr's book All the Light We Cannot See. The original city was all but destroyed in the final days off WWII in France; however, they rebuilt the city to look like it always had. Thank goodness for that!

We spent less than 24 hours here, and I assure you - I won't make that mistake again!
